Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 13, 2026

SongScroll respects your privacy. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what you control — in plain English.

This Privacy Policy describes how SongScroll (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use the SongScroll mobile application (the “App”). By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

Information we collect

We collect only the information needed to operate the App and personalise your music experience:

  • Account information:your email address and, if you sign in with Apple or Google, a user identifier from those providers. If you use Sign in with Apple’s “Hide My Email”, we receive a relay address and never see your real one.
  • Music preferences: the artists, genres, and stacks you choose, plus any collections or saved tracks you create.
  • Listening activity: the tracks you play in the App, used to build your top artists, top genres, and recommendations. We do not record or store audio.
  • Connected services: tokens for Apple Music, Spotify, or YouTube if you choose to connect them. These are stored securely on your device and are never sent to anyone other than the matching service provider.
  • Diagnostic information: basic, anonymised logs of errors and API calls used to keep the App working.

How we use information

  • To provide the core features of the App: recommendations, collections, listening history, and cross-device sync.
  • To authenticate you and keep your account secure.
  • To improve the App by fixing bugs and tuning the recommendation engine.

What we do not do

  • We do not sell your personal information.
  • We do not share your listening history with advertisers.
  • We do not track you across other apps or websites.
  • We do not use third-party advertising SDKs.

How we share information

We share data only with the third-party services required to run the App, each governed by its own privacy policy:

  • Supabase — our authentication and database provider.
  • Apple (Sign in with Apple, MusicKit), Spotify, and YouTube — only when you use a feature that calls those services.
  • Last.fm and MusicBrainz — used to enrich artist and track metadata.

Data retention and deletion

Your data is retained for as long as your account exists. You can delete your account at any time from Profile → Settings → Delete account. Deleting your account permanently removes your preferences, collections, and listening history from our servers within 30 days. You can also email us at privacy@songscroll.app to request a copy or deletion of your data.

Children

SongScroll is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be highlighted inside the App and reflected by the date above.
